On November 20, 2012 Audi announced to debut an Avant version of the RS6 at the 2013 Detroit auto show.

Audi revealed the details of the C7 RS6 on December 5, 2012. Its 4.0 TFSI engine develops 412 kilowatts (560 PS; 553 bhp) and 700 newton metres (516 lbf·ft) of torque. This will enable the RS6 Avant to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour (62.1 mph) in 3.9 seconds. The top speed is limited to 250 kilometres per hour (155.3 mph) by default. By adding the optional Dynamic or Dynamic Plus package, this top speed is increased to respectively 280 kilometres per hour (174.0 mph) or 305 kilometres per hour (189.5 mph). Audi claims an average fuel consumption of 9.8 litres per 100 kilometres (24 mpg_-US). In order to accomplish this Audi has added a start-stop system and a cylinder on demand system. The RS6 Avant will use an 8-speed tiptronic gearbox.

The car will be expected to price around EUR 105,000 and to be on sale around summer of 2013 in Europe.
