Audi has announced that the S4 sedan and station wagon variants will be launched in 2016, along with the Audi A4. The unveiling at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show showed a European-spec model available only with an 8-speed torque converter automatic (ZF 8HP55a).

The S4 is powered by a 354 brake horsepower (359 PS; 264 kW) 3.0L V6 with a single turbo fed by "reverse flow" heads which have the exhaust ports in the V of the engine, a similar arrangement to the twin-turbos of the 4.0L V8 S6/S7. The new S4 claims a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.4 seconds. The brakes are of the multi-piston type replacing the single-piston sliding calipers of earlier models. LED headlights are standard while a flat-bottomed steering wheel, "S" embossed seats, and quad tailpipes differentiate the S4 from the B9 A4.
