1936 Auto Union C Type under construction in my garage.

The build of a 1936 Auto Union copy is progressing well, nearly all the mechanical bits are done. Work on the aluminium bodywork will soon commence making this dimensionally correct car unique outside of Audi Tradition's stable. The mdf patterns for the body shape will not form any part of the car but are purely to get the dimensions correct. Although V16 engines are hard to come by the Porsche designed running gear on the Auto Union is replicated in the VW Beetle, swing axle at the rear and torsion bar trailing arms at the front. A 3.5 Rover V8 engine with Holley carburettor is employed, coupled to the VW gearbox. Motor Wheel Services supplied the wheels and tyres, Orson Equipment the hubs and 'Auto Union' style engraved spinners, Car Builder Solutions for the hoses & brake master cylinder and Specialized Cutting the laser-cut metal items, such as the fake brake drums, fake friction shock absorbers and a load of bracketing and detail work. Many of the smaller items and nuts and bolt have been sourced from ebay. I intend to offer these cars for sale once I have developed this prototype. It will not be street-legal so will be a toy if you have your own collection and a private race circuit!
